UAH GOES-R CI

This 12 minute module briefly describes the latest operational version of the proxy GOES-R Convective Initiation (CI) product that utilizes current GOES retrievals.  The GOES-R CI is a 0-2 hr, satellite-based nowcasting product developed at UA Huntsville and transitioned by NASA-SPoRT to NWS operational forecasters. The CI product provides value through early identification of cells likely to develop into strong convective thunderstorms prior to radar signatures of precipitation. This product is available for both the GOES-East and GOES-West domains.
